The Highlands - Scotland
The Highlands are so different in every way. In terms of wondrous scenery and beautifully-crafted golf courses, it doesn’t get any better! Take Royal Dornoch, arguably the region’s most famous course. A round on Dornoch offers the chance to step back in time and if it weren’t for its secluded nature, it would be high up on the list of would-be Open venues.
Southwards and to the east of Inverness is the delightful town of Nairn and two championship courses – The Nairn Golf Club (the more testing of the two) and the Nairn Dunbar Course.
Honorable mentioned courses in this region are: Brora, Tain, Durness, Boat of Garten to mention just a few. So, if you are looking for something a little bit special and out of the ordinary, then the Scottish Highlands is the place for you – just remember to bring your camera!
Nairn Championship Course
A traditional Scottish Golf Links Course, created on the shores of the Moray Firth from a Highland wilderness of whins and heather, which tests the talents of professional and amateur alike. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in Scotland.
Nairn Dunbar Course
Situated on the shores of the Moray Firth, the Nairn Dunbar golf course, founded in 1899, is a highly rated Scottish links championship course representing a formidable challenge with its gorse and whin lined fairways.
.Royal Dornoch
Formed in 1877, Dornoch has been a Royal club for over 100 years! They offer exceptional standards in a relaxed, informal environment, with an emphasis on traditional highland hospitality. Records show that the incredible natural landscape that defines golf in Dornoch has hosted golfers since 1616. Over the years the Championship course has been tweaked and enhanced and continues to be regularly ranked within the top 15 best courses in the world.
